Project descriptionGuidance and counselling is based on a given existing organisation culture in education institutions and work places. The majority of adults have adapted a teacher-oriented learning style and have no experiences in the new learner-centred pedagogy. As the society is changing rapidly, we should have a more user-oriented approach in guidance and counselling. Teachers should be in a coaching role. The learner should be more supported to be a master of his or her own learning process. Second Chance Leonardo da Vinci project aims at reducing the amount of dropouts in Vocational Education and Training. An empowering pedagogical model for guidance and counselling is created. An on-line toolkit for learners and their counsellors is also developed. The new model will motivate students for lifelong learning and give implements for life-management skills especially for students who are in risk to become disadvantaged. Proactive, general and intensive guidance and counselling methods will be produced to meet the needs of the learners in different situations and stages of their learning processes. The model and the on-line tool will be evaluated in coaching groups for learners with specific needs. The coaching groups will consist of intensive counselling and peer support for the learner in order to recognize individual learning styles and to meet the demands of the necessary competences in working life. A training program for the trainers will be created. Improving the intercultural and language skills of the learners will facilitate the mobility of students and workers from one country to another. SECOND CHANCE - Individual Learning and Career Paths -project draws together education and administrations institutions, work life, enterprises and social partners from Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Italy. |
